Everything Escaleras
(Written by Come Travel With B)
Here at Escaleras Escape we wake up to the sounds of howler monkeys and drink our coffee amongst the toucans.
We plan our days by the tides and are always chasing the sun.
You’ll find that Escaleras Escape is more than just an accommodation…
It’s an experience.
An experience you’ll want to return to again and again and again and again.

Surrounding Area
Escaleras Escape is conveniently located 1,000 ft up in the jungle of Escaleras between Dominical and Uvita on Costa Rica’s southwest coast.
We are within close proximity to 2 national parks (Manuel Antonio and Marino Ballena), the Hacienda Baru Wild Life Refuge, yoga and surf lessons, hiking trails, horse treks, ATV tours, whitewater rafting, paragliding, sport fishing, dive and snorkel sites, multiple world renown surf beaches, some of Costa Rica’s tallest waterfalls, and countless restaurants and bars.
Getting Here
Book your flight into San Jose and we are just a 3 hour drive South off of Highway 34. This is a toll road costing around 2000 Colones (a little over $3 USD). It’s a super easy drive and there are plenty of restaurants and stops to make along the way.
Another option would be to fly Sansa Airlines into Quepos. It’s a short 20 minute domestic flight from San Jose, but take note that you will be needing a ride from the Quepos airport to a car rental. We are more than willing to pick you up and drop you off from airport to car rental if you are friends/family or those staying a minimum of 3 nights.
If you will be needing a ride, please contact us via email( contact@escalerasescape.com ) so we can plan accordingly.

Renting a Vehicle
A 4×4 is required for ease of accessing not only Escaleras Escape, but also many of the activities and sights you’ll want to take advantage of while in the area.
Ensure the cheapest car rental price for you and your party by reserving your car here.
Seasons
Dry Season: December-May
Wet/Green Season: June-November
Wettest Months: September/October
Escaleras Escape’s proximity to the equator means temperatures stay nice and warm all year round with highs usually around 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit) and lows around 22 degrees Celsius ( 72 degrees Fahrenheit)
Currency
Named after Christopher Columbus, the official currency of Costa Rica is the Colon (CRC).
Although USD is widely accepted, as well as multiple credit cards, Escaleras Escape would highly recommend finding an ATM to withdraw some Colones as you will need Colones for the toll road and small shops.
Do not use the currency exchange at the airport as your bank exchange rates will be much better.
Power Outlets
Escaleras Escape and all of Costa Rica uses North American plugins (110 volt 60 cycle), which means you will not be needing a converter/adapter if traveling from the United States, Canada, Mexico, or Japan.
Parking
Escaleras Escape offers free parking below the cabinas,
Water
The water comes from the mountain and is not treated, but is safe to drink. If you are not comfortable drinking the water, you must provide your own.
